Dáil na nÓg 2003

Dáil na nÓg 2003 was a fantastic success.  The event was held at Croke Park Stadium, in the Hogan suite, on Saturday 15th November from 10:30am to 4:30pm. Nearly 200 delegates (the young people taking part in Dáil na nÓg) aged between 12 and 18 came from all around the country. The delegates were elected to Dáil na nÓg from their local Comhairle na nÓg (youth council).

Minister Lenihan opened the Dáil and was present for the whole day.  He sat in on many discussion groups and also listened to the outcomes of all the groups during the main Dáil session.  Minster Lenihan assured the delegates that he is committed to their views being heard and acted upon and that he will present the report of the Dáil to the Cabinet Committee on Children.

The two themes discussed at Dáil na nÓg 2003 were:

Theme 1 – Alcohol and Drug Misuse
Theme 2 – Educational Disadvantage

Dáil na nÓg 2003 was organised and run by the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) for the National Children's Office (NCO).
