Over 240 children from all parts of the country and all types of lifestyles took part in the day.

The former Minister for Children, Mary Hanafin T.D. and An Taoiseach Bertie Ahern T.D. were in attendance for the day to listen to the views and discussions of the children and young people.

The Motions put to the first Dáil na nÓg were:
